History Reclaimed |
The driftwood I use in my artwork has a long history. The lumber business was thriving in northeast Michigan in the mid 1800's. Much of what you see in my artwork is scrap that was thrown away by the Michigan lumbermen 150 years ago. You can still see the marks of the tools the lumbermen used on many of my pieces. Today, this type of driftwood still washes up on the beaches in northeast Michigan and even more spectacular pieces can be found by scuba diving in the Great Lakes. |
